Woodlands House is a warm and welcoming four-bedroom bungalow in Alexandria, offering a safe and supportive home environment for children and young people who need an alternative base at certain times in their lives. Nestled in its own spacious grounds, the house provides plenty of room for safe, contained play and outdoor fun. It’s also ideally located near the River Leven, the scenic green spaces of Balloch, and just a short distance from the beautiful Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park — offering nature on the doorstep.
Woodlands House has been thoughtfully designed with the help of an interior designer who specialises in healing spaces. We’ve paid close attention to how every detail of the environment can support wellbeing — from furniture placement that fosters feelings of safety and comfort, to the use of calming colour palettes and natural lighting that encourage creativity, relaxation, and clarity. Learning from what hasn’t worked in other children’s homes, we’ve crafted a truly nurturing environment where every element helps children feel at home, heal, and grow.

Woodlands House is proud to offer a sensory room: a gentle, calm environment designed to help young people unwind, regulate their emotions, and build confidence through sensory play and experiences.

At Woodlands House, our living room is a warm, welcoming space where young people and adults come together to relax, connect, and enjoy each other's company. Whether it's playing games, watching TV, reading a book, or simply chatting, this shared area fosters a sense of community and belonging. It's a place where everyone can unwind, share stories, and create lasting memories in a comfortable and supportive environment.

At Woodlands House, we have four comfortable bedrooms, each designed to be a private retreat just for you. We encourage every young person to personalise their room with items that bring comfort and joy—be it favourite colours, artwork, or cherished belongings. This is your space to rest, reflect, and truly feel at home.

At Woodlands House, our kitchen is more than just a place to prepare meals—it's the heart of our home. We believe in the power of shared experiences, so we encourage young people to join in cooking if they wish. Gathering around the table to enjoy meals together fosters a sense of community and belonging. Whether it's learning new recipes, sharing stories, or simply enjoying each other's company, our kitchen is a space where everyone can feel at home.

At Woodlands House, our garden is a vibrant space where nature, learning, and relaxation come together. With a variety of trees, plants, and abundant wildlife—including bunnies and owls—it's a place where young people can explore, connect with nature, and even try their hand at growing their own fruits and vegetables. Whether it's tending to a vegetable patch, observing local wildlife, or simply enjoying the outdoors, our garden offers a peaceful retreat that fosters curiosity, responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment.
