Our understanding comes from both professional training and lived experience. All staff receive trauma-informed training as part of their induction, ensuring every member of our team shares the same foundation of knowledge, empathy and therapeutic understanding.
We recognise that behaviour is often a form of communication, particularly for young people who have experienced trauma, loss or instability. Our approach focuses on building trust, promoting emotional safety and responding with patience, consistency and compassion.
We are committed to creating a safe, nurturing and responsive environment where young people feel heard, valued and understood. By recognising the lasting impact of trauma and adversity, we provide care that supports healing, encourages resilience and helps young people build positive relationships and brighter futures.
Our experienced ASN practitioners specialise in supporting young people with a range of additional support needs, including learning differences, sensory needs, communication challenges and neurodivergence.
They work closely with each young person to ensure their individual needs are understood and reflected in daily routines and care planning. With this expertise in-house, we are able to provide personalised, responsive support that helps every young person feel valued, understood and empowered to thrive.

At Benesse Care, we believe effective care starts with strong, trusting relationships. That’s why we provide continuity of care through a consistent team of familiar staff who help young people feel safe, supported and understood.
For young people who may have experienced trauma or instability, familiar relationships create a sense of security and belonging. Over time, these trusted connections help us better understand individual needs and provide meaningful, therapeutic support.
We also believe support should not end when a young person leaves our care. Wherever appropriate, we continue to maintain positive relationships, ensuring young people always know they have people they can turn to.
We are committed to the ongoing growth and excellence of our team through continuous professional development (CPD). All staff take part in regular training to ensure they remain confident, skilled and up to date in delivering high-quality care.
Training includes both internal workshops tailored to our service (such as trauma-informed care, policies and therapeutic practice) and external accredited courses to meet statutory and specialist requirements.
This ongoing learning covers areas such as safeguarding, emotional wellbeing, additional support needs, de-escalation and effective communication.
Through continuous training, we strengthen staff confidence and competence, improve outcomes for young people, and maintain a culture of safe, consistent and reflective practice.
Our core team includes a fully qualified counsellor alongside a practitioner holding an HNC in Counselling. Together, they provide regular therapeutic support to young people and work closely with the wider staff team to guide consistent, trauma-informed practice.
They contribute to care planning and risk assessment, and support staff in understanding and responding to emotional needs, trauma, loss and other challenges. They also offer young people a safe, supportive space to express themselves and explore their feelings.
This integrated approach ensures therapy is not separate from daily care, but part of a fully therapeutic service. It reflects our commitment to providing holistic support that helps every young person feel heard, understood and supported to heal and thrive.
Located at the foot of Loch Lomond, Woodlands House offers a calm, nature-rich setting that supports healing and wellbeing. Surrounded by woodland and wildlife, it provides a peaceful environment that encourages reflection, regulation and connection with the outdoors.
We are also close to key transport links, making it easy for families and professionals to visit and stay involved in each young person’s journey.
Our home includes a dedicated sensory room, spacious gardens and comfortable shared areas, all designed to promote safety, calm and a sense of belonging. Every detail has been carefully considered to create a warm, therapeutic and homely environment.
We believe a supportive environment is a key part of recovery, helping young people feel safe, settled and ready to thrive.
