Pauline Goodall and Garry McWhirter
Pauline and Garry are the founders and driving force behind Benesse Care. With nearly 30 years of direct experience working with young people in care, Pauline provides deep insight into what support really makes a difference. Garry brings a strong background in business and leadership to the role, ensuring the home is run with sound structure and vision.
Benesse was founded in 2021, born out of extensive planning, preparation, and learning — drawing on both professional expertise and lived experience. In October 2025, after years of groundwork, they opened the doors to Woodlands House, a nurturing residential setting built to provide therapeutic, trauma‑informed care. Their aim is to create homes that cater to each young person’s needs, ensuring each one is supported in a way that matches their individual care requirements—with respect, understanding, and warmth.
